Changing the way we think about Virgin Island agriculture
October 21, 2018 Gvavital

During his address at the 2017 Agrohack Conference, Ken Neilson discusses how small islands like St. Thomas turned their agriculture industries around and produce locally.

Ken brought his passion for sustainability and entrepreneurial spirit to the USVI in 2013 shortly after receiving his MBA from Babson College. Upon identifying a need for fresh produce in St. Thomas, he traveled throughout the U.S. seeking solutions, then set out to revolutionize the farming landscape in St. Thomas using a 40 foot container farm. This hydroponic system, manufactured by CropBox, uses less water than traditional in-ground farming and can grow an acre’s worth of produce in 320 sq ft.

AGROHACK is a premier agriculture innovation summit whose purpose is to propel agriculture as a sustainable source of growth and economic development.
